Kefalonia · 25 September 2025

Verity and I got married here.

This year we drove back to it. Not flying. Driving, the whole way, on electricity.

That's 2,454 miles each way through nine countries, with thirteen charge stops built around what this car actually does on a long motorway day rather than the figure on the brochure.

We spent months planning the route, and it held. We know the legs, we know the stops, and we know exactly what the battery gives back when it's loaded and the weather turns. We made it.

Four legs

2,454 miles and thirteen charge stops, with our first anniversary falling somewhere in the middle of it.

  1. 720 miThe UK to the Alps.Four charge stops. The long, flat, fast part.
  2. 190 miOver the Alps. One charge stop. Everything the regen gives back on the descents.
  3. 1,050 miDown through the Balkans.Five charge stops. The leg we have planned hardest.
  4. 494 miInto Greece, and across to Kefalonia.Three charge stops. Then a boat.

The car that's doing it

A BYD Sealion 7 Excellence. Ninety one kilowatt hours, 283 miles on paper, 250 to 275 in the real world once it's loaded.

We've run it through a British winter, so we know what it gives back on a long day. That's the number the whole route is built on.

What you'll actually see

We filmed the whole drive. Every leg, every charge stop, and the real consumption figures logged against the plan so you can see how close we got.

It's the first channel either of us has built, and the episodes are coming now we're back, straight from what we shot on the road.

Come with us

Two pounds claims a mile of the route and puts your name on it. Backers get a say in where we stop and what we film. You don't need an account.
